Rants by the Afghani “President” and then Some
June 16, 2008
Less than a week after an American air strike left 11 Pakistani soldiers dead and another 40 civilians in the tribal region of Pakistan , the Afghani President Hamid Karzai has threatened to send Afghani troops over the border into Pakistan to eliminate Taliban fighters. The threats are of course purely symbolic as Hamid Karzai’s rag-tag militias are ill-trained and ill-armed to take on a nuclear state like Pakistan but what puzzles many people is the pure idiocracy of the Afghani president that instead of beefing up security in his own country and consolidating the government’s rule beyond the confines of Kabul, the unofficial mayor of Kabul, has nothing better to do then make silly accusations at a country that has successfully defended his country from Soviet colonization, taken at least 2 million Afghani refugees when the world deserted Afghanistan and continues to pay both in blood and finances to see the stabilization of the Afghani state so that out-siders don’t exploit the Afghani people and land for their own political ends.
Few analysts see the latest empty threats by the mayor of Kabul and the continuing American strikes in Pakistan as part of a greater strategy to pressure Pakistan both diplomatically and militarily to reverse its recent peace deal with tribal elders near the border who are believed to be sympathetic to the Taliban cause. It is seems to me quite ironic that America and Nato would be against Pakistan signings peace deals with the tribal elders, not because as a sovereign nation Pakistan has the right to signs deals with whosoever it wishes, but because these kind of deals work! The tensions and near daily suicide bombings in Iraq did not lessen until America signed a peace deal with the Sunni elders.
Engaged in a final push to force Musharraf into resignation, the current leadership is completely hopeless in addressing the grave dangers that Pakistan is facing. It is this kind of utter incompetence that has forced many people to see these phony so-called democratic parties as big TURN OFF. The only credible counter-act that has emerged is the revelation that Pakistan has started monitoring its Western Border via satellites. Better Late then Never!
